Defining Perfect 🌹

Ever try to be perfect?

Oh, the perfection trap.
I dismissed this long ago as something I'd ever have to worry about for myself because I'm all too comfortable being a not-so-hot mess in so many areas of my life... but it snuck up on me.

The tricky thing about the perfection trap, is that it stems from a whole bunch of shadowy beliefs about how we *should* be.

What if you're already perfect?

What if your 'imperfections' are part of what makes you perfect?
On a philosophical level, I find this hard to contest because I believe that reality IS perfect, as that's the only way that it can be.
Who am I to argue with reality / God?

All of this is to say; the perfection trap is a futile endeavor... at least in so far as it's arbitrary and we already know it's anti-helpful in facilitating positive change in our internal experience

How do we detangle ourselves from this farce?

Well, let's first recognize that perfection is sublimely subjective. I mean, perfect according to whom?
As a lifelong student of human consciousness, I can guarantee that you have loads of contradictions within your own psyche about what defines perfect...
We all do, this is an inevitable feature of how we're programmed as children.

BUT... there's a powerful question here that can shed some serious light on some of our shadowy beliefs and help us release the pattern.

Ask yourself:

What defines perfect?

I suggest listing the answers to this on a piece of paper.

The answer/s to this will tell you much about your values and your shadowy expectations for yourself.

Give it a shot!
... you know you want to 😉

with loads of perfectly imperfect messy LOVE,
Lucy B.
