On Current Events

I’m feeling a desire to share about everything that’s happening in the world right now.

To be honest, the prospect of sharing about it makes me uncomfortable.. but avoiding discomfort isn’t really what I’m about…

I don't like to share/write about politics because I feel like most of it is just lies, posturing and propaganda. We’ve been living in a distopia and I’m amazed with how much 2020 has illuminated that fact more clearly and viscerally than ever before to more people than ever before.

Psychedelics woke me up to the divisive nature of our “us against them” political system and mass media outrage machine when I was young and the message is always the same, “the other guy is bad, wrong, evil”

Because of this constant message of polarization and finger pointing, the politicization of any topic is extremely dangerous. Climate change and racial violence are two major examples of this.

Racial inequality has always been treated as a political issue because we have a political party who targets minorities and pretends to help them in order to get their votes… and we have another party who openly supports racist agendas. We have corruption and racism on both sides.

It’s too easy not to notice that this is happening every single day in our communities. This is both a top down and bottom up problem and it inspires and excites me to see so many people speaking out against racism.

My response to this is similar to my response to most things these days, to listen and be open to the perspectives that are showing up in my field, to do what I can in my sphere of influence, and to look inward.

"What is my role in all of this, what are my conscious and unconscious biases?"

As within so without, my friends. The basic laws of the universe tell us that this division is in All of Us. If we want to be part of the solution we HAVE to be willing to look at ourselves as part of the problem.

I’m not talking about guilt, guilt never got me to do a damn thing in my life. I’m talking about the fact that this is coming up right now to show us what we can focus on in ourselves, there is potent opportunity for change right now.

Spread love my friends,

I know you will.
